The Focus Point School is a fully accredited day-school program operated by Koba Institute, Inc. The program provides intermediate to long-term educational services as a comprehensive secondary school. The highly individualized program uses a sophisticated instructional system linked directly to each student’s Individualized Education Program (IEP). The school provides services 220 days per fiscal year, including four blocks (periods) per day in specific subject matter and skill areas.
The curriculum targets these major goal areas featuring individualized instruction for each student: 1) to provide a supportive and therapeutic educational setting designed to maximize the opportunities to successfully master the required learning outcomes; 2) to normalize personal interactive skills and interpersonal relationships by effective teaching and counseling conceived to stabilize behaviors, realize conflict free compliance with usual and customary community standards of behavior, and to compensate for existing disabilities; and 3) to achieve the highest level of academic skills consistent with each student’s potential.
