Founded in 1982 as a therapeutic school for students in grades 6 through 12, RSMC is approved by the Maryland State Department of Education to provide therapeutic educational services to students with emotional and learning disabilities, health impairments, and multiple disabilities, as well as to general education students. All students enrolled in RMC are on their way to earning a high school diploma.

The Ridge School offers intimate class sizes, and the school’s social workers manage small caseloads, allowing students to receive the personal attention and care they need. Ridge students come from Maryland, Virginia, and the District of Columbia, and are served in both day school and residential settings.

In preparation for graduation, the school provides SAT preparation and testing, transition services, and referrals to community transition agencies. After graduation, students are ready to enter college, vocational training programs, or the work force.

Serves the educational and social-emotional needs of students in grades 8 through 12 (ages 13-21). This nonpublic, twelve-month full day general education, special education and residential school serves day students as well as students residing at our residential treatment center and group home. Our goal is to provide a learning environment where every student is successful and to individualize learning in such a way that students develop effective strategies for use in other environments.

A multidisciplinary approach is used to develop treatment and education plans to enable students to meet their IEP goals and objectives. School-wide programs such as the MANDT behavior management system, Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) program, and extracurricular activities, support student achievement and behavior management.
